It has a construction volume of US$9.6 billion and it specializes in construction management, consulting, contracting, and insurance and risck management, among others. This American company has led the construction of many famous buildings, such as the United Nations Secretariat in New York, the United Airlines Terminal 1, the Madison Square Garden, the American Stock Exchange, the Rose Garden Arena and The Burj Dubai, the tallest building in the world, with 818 metres tall.
It is not surprising, therefore, that Turner Construction has been granted prestigious awards and trophies for its many achievements worldwide. The company received the BID Award for Quality thanks to its general success worldwide and its commitment to quality services and excellence.

B.I.D. Arch of Europe Award Krunitchev: SMOS Launch in September

According to Eurockot Launch Services, a joint venture of EADS Astrium and Khrunichev, ESA’s Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) is now been scheduled for launch on 9 September this year. SMOS is the second Earth Explorer Opportunity mission.
The SMOS satellite consists of a generic Proteus platform provided by the French space agency CNES that carries a novel instrument called the Microwave Imaging Radiometer using Aperture Synthesis (MIRAS) developed by EADS-CASA Espacio in Spain.
SMOS will provide global maps of Soil Moisture as well as of Ocean Salinity using the MIRAS instrument that is capable to observe both parameters. Thales Alenia Space, France is the prime contractor for the SMOS satellite.

Communicating far and beyond leads to B.I.D Quality Award

Groupe de Presse Wal Fadjri, BID International World Quality Commitment Award, started off in 1984 with a bimonthly publication, which, after three years, became weekly.

In 1993, Wal Fadjri already had a daily periodicity. Four years later, Walf FM (Dakar) and a regional radio station in Kaolak started broadcasting, making Wal Fadjri grow in popularity until 2004, when Walf 2 (based on religion contents) and Walf 3 (featuring musical programs) were launched.

In 2005, Wal Fadjri set up the Walf Grand Place, a daily newspaper featuring general news. Only one month later, the Group created Walf Sports.
